Birthdate of Jesus irrelevant

I don't know why Doug Duke thinks amending the year of Jesus's birth would change Ussher's calculation. We know[1] exactly how many years have passed since 7 BCE, and that number remains the same whether Jesus was born in that year or in 4 BCE. The earlier dates calculated by Ussher were not dependent upon Jesus's birthday.

  1. Actually, there is a new crackpot theory out there that the Catholic Church made a major error in the calendar during the Middle Ages and they accidently added about a thousand years to the time since Christ's birth. So, in reality it is only about 1006 right now.
